You’re probably going to put candy canes in the stocking anyway, so why not dress them up a bit? You’ll love it when the kids squeal in delight when they see Rudolph peering out from their stocking. So grab a few thing, and let's get busy!
For each stocking you’ll need:
- 2 candy canes (individually wrapped)
- 2 small googly eyes
- 1 red glue-on jewel (or red pom-pom)
- brown construction paper
- tape
- hot glue (or white glue, but it will take time for it to set)
Here's what you do:
1. Use tape to attach two candy canes together with the hooks pointing in opposite directions.
2. Wrap construction paper around the base of the candy canes to measure the width you need. Allow for a little overlap and then mark the paper for that width. Measure the length of the straight portion of the candy cane and then subtract 1/2”. This will be the length of the construction paper. Mine ended up being a rectangle about 3-1/2 "X 4", but it will depend on the size of your candy canes.
3. Cut out the construction paper, wrap it around the base of the candy canes, and tape it together. I extended the tape a little past the top of the candy cane base and wrapped it around the candy cane curve to help secure it so it didn’t just slide off.
4. Glue on the eyes and nose, and voilà! You’re done. It's fast and easy and the kids will get a kick out of it.
