750 Cucina Rustica Review

Local Restaurant Review

By Katie Walthall February 23, 2017

Last Sunday my husband and I were trying to figure out what we were going to do for dinner. We only had the baby that night, my other 3 kids were with their dad for the night.  He is from a LARGE, Italian family that usually all gather at one house most Sundays for “Family DInner”.  Some of you may know exactly what I’m talking about and if you do you know that it is a lot of people, food and noise, but always a great time! Well this week there was no dinner so we had a fairly quiet night ahead of ourselves and myself just getting off a 9 hour serving shift didn’t want to cook.  We decided to eat out, which only happens maybe once/twice a month.  We picked our brains and searched Yelp trying to find something different.  All of a sudden I remembered that a new Italian place had just opened a week or so earlier in downtown Cary, less than 10 minutes from our house.  That was it...Italian it was and we LOVE to try new places.

So here I am letting you all know about this BRAND NEW, LOCAL, FAMILY owned and operated Italian restaurant, called 750 Cucina Rustica.  The first thing I can say is this may be our new favorite dinner out spot! Let me start from the beginning…

We walked in and were warmly greeted by a lovely woman behind the front desk.  She was very professional and kind.  She asked how many, checked a few things and within 2 minutes we were on our way to a half booth table with 2 chairs up against the wall with plenty of room for the high chair.  The room was very warm and inviting. Lots of earthy tones made it real comfortable with Italian themed art and candle lighting, a fireplace was playing on a big TV next to us.

Our server arrived in perfect timing and we ordered some beverages.  While waiting for our drinks we browsed the menu and everything sounded amazing.  When the server returned he dropped off some fresh bread with olives on the side, which we dipped in olive oil with a little parmesan. We asked him a few questions about a couple dishes on the menu and he was very knowledgeable.  The place was surprisingly busy for only being open a couple weeks.  People were waiting for tables and from what I could hear it sounded like you could make reservations.  Good to know for the future now that I have seen what a gem I think this place is going to be.

The server returned promptly, all the while our waters had already been filled.  We ordered a caesar salad, a small Margherita pizza and the Pollo Limone.  We like to share and eat family style, so we said whenever anything is ready bring it out.  We got our traditional caesar salad and the Margherita pizza made with tasty tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and basil first.  Both...DELICIOUS.  Yum, we were very satisfied so far.  The crust was soft on the pizza but not mushy and the fresh mozzarella was the best part. The baby even liked it!

We enjoyed some great conversation while eating and even had a little chat with the couple next to us.  Our server checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed.  Even though they seemed to have gotten busier since we walked in everyone working there was calm, relaxed and walked around with a smile on their face.  We were very comfortable there.

Next out came the Pollo Limone, which was the most moist, tasteful chicken I have had in a long time.  It fell apart and could be cut with a fork.  It was covered in a lemon caper sauce that was amazing.  You could tell the mashed potatoes, that come served with the meal, were homemade because it was nice and thick and had little chunks of potato in it that I love.  Same with the broccoli.  Still a little crisp and lots of flavor. We had a great meal.  At almost the same time my husband and I looked at each other and said, “I really like this place.  We will definitely be back.”.

Both of us were very full so we passed on dessert, even though every single one sounded A-MAZING.  We got the check and for a meal that we both thoroughly enjoyed, a check under $50 is nice to see.  Fantastic, tasty food from a local, family business that doesn’t break the bank is something I think every town needs.  Now there is one in Cary, that I see nothing but good things for.  That is why I am sharing this with all of you.  In case you didn’t know they are there, now you do and if you are trying to decide where to eat the next time you want a meal out, go check out 750 Cucina Rustica at 7 Jandus Rd Cary.  Bring the family, they will love it too or try it for a date night.  I don’t think you will be disappointed.
